About

Where Every Dog Gets a Country Holiday

When most people think about sending their dog to a kennel, they picture a concrete yard, metal fencing, too many dogs in too little space, and an experience that feels more like a holding facility than a holiday. At Farmstay Boarding Kennels, we do things differently.

We believe that when your dog takes a break from home, it shouldn’t feel anxious, confined, or stressed—it should feel like a country retreat, with fresh air, open space, attentive care, and a peaceful environment where they can relax, explore, and enjoy their own version of a holiday. We provide an environment where dogs can decompress, enjoy personalised attention, feel safe, and live like they’re part of the family—not just another kennel guest.

Nestled in the rural outskirts of Young, NSW, our farmstay-style kennels are more than just a place to sleep—they’re designed to give your dog space, calm, and comfort. The natural surroundings reduce stress, the secure environment ensures safety, and our dedicated team provides genuine care and professional management shaped by years of animal handling experience.

An Experience Built Around Your Dog

Most kennels operate at maximum capacity. More dogs means more noise, more stress, and less attention per animal. At Farmstay Boarding Kennels, we limit daily bookings to ensure every dog receives personalised interaction and hands-on care. We treat each dog as an individual, not a unit in a booking slot.

We take the time to understand your dog’s personality, routines, feeding requirements, medical considerations, and behavioural traits. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or older and prefers a quiet corner, we tailor the experience to match their needs.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all boarding. Instead, we provide farm-style comfort, freedom in controlled environments, and direct human contact so your dog feels secure and valued throughout their stay.

Accommodation & Facilities

Our kennels are designed to provide space, comfort, and security. Each dog has:

  • Individual or paired enclosures (for multi-dog homes)
  • Sheltered sleeping area with bedding
  • Outdoor access to secure exercise areas
  • Daily walk/playtime sessions (custom to energy level)
  • Quiet zones for rest
  • Temperature-control considerations during extreme weather
  • Regular check-ins and monitoring

For multi-dog families, we can house dogs together if requested and appropriate. We understand that dogs often relax better around familiar companions, so we’re happy to accommodate sibling stays.

Health, Safety & Veterinary Standards

We are committed to the highest standards of animal welfare and hygiene. For everyone’s safety:

All dogs must be fully vaccinated before staying, and proof of vaccination must be provided at drop-off.

Dogs must be wormed and flea-treated prior to arrival.

We follow NSW animal boarding regulations and maintain clear records.

If your dog is on medication, we will administer it as part of their care routine (details must be provided during booking).

We also request that you inform us of any aggression history, anxiety concerns, separation issues, or triggers so we can support your dog appropriately.

Care & Routine

Each dog’s day is designed around health and temperament. We don’t group dogs together unless approved by owners and professionally assessed as safe. Our routines include:

  • Morning check and clean
  • Feeding according to your instructions
  • Structured play or relaxation time
  • Behaviour-sensitive exercise (calm for nervous dogs, active for energetic ones)
  • Individual interaction and engagement
  • Evening wind-down and comfortable sleep environment

Every dog is monitored throughout the day. If at any time there is emotional distress, we intervene gently with comfort, calm space, or guided activities.

Farmstay = Stress-Free Boarding

Urban kennels often struggle with overcrowding, constant noise, and limited space. Dogs, by nature, react to noise and movement, and these environments can elevate stress levels.

At Farmstay Boarding Kennels, we are surrounded by paddocks, birdsong, and country air. The absence of city sounds helps reduce anxiety naturally. Our physical surroundings do half the calming work before we even start.

We’ve seen nervous dogs settle faster here than in traditional kennels because our environment feels more like a retreat than a facility.

Who We Are

Farmstay Boarding Kennels is family-run. We don’t outsource care, and we don’t operate as a commercial-scale business. Our purpose is to provide an environment where dogs don’t just wait for their owners to return—they are actively comfortable during their stay.

Our background includes years of working with dogs, understanding animal behaviour, and managing optimal environments for calm and safety. We built this facility with a focus on low-stress, high-care accommodation for family dogs.

If we wouldn’t be comfortable leaving our own animals with us, we wouldn’t offer the service.

Our Promise

We promise to:

  • Treat every dog with care and dignity
  • Provide attentive, routine-based management
  • Keep owners informed and updated as needed
  • Maintain clean, safe facilities at all times
  • Operate responsibly, professionally, and ethically
  • Never accept more dogs than we can handle properly
